London in Bite-Sized Adventures: Exploring the City One Day at a Time
London is a stunning city of endless possibilities which is why I am sharing how you can make the most of of your time in this iconic city. Personally when we visited last April we chose to take our vacation over 5 days with each day having an itinerary of what was most important to us and within a close proximity so we didn’t spend a lot of time getting from one place to the next. We are also those travellers that like to leave space in our day to sit down and enjoy where we are so it’s not all a blur. There is something so special about those moments of sitting in a nice restaurant, coffee shop or pub and really allowing yourself to be all there. This blog is going to cover what was our “big day out”. We planned this day on our third day in London knowing that the day we arrive after a long flight and time change is usually very chill and the second day is decent but typically that is our day to gently explore.
Morning: Begin the day with the big bus tour
1. The London Eye
Begin your day with a visit to the London Eye with the combo pass on the Big Bus Tour. The bonus of this pass is that you get to skip the line when you pre book your time on the Eye. Don’t forget to look for St.Paul’s Cathedral up there, the view is spectacular.
Afterward, take a short walk to the River Cruise that is included in this package. You will also get to skip the line and hop right aboard this enclosed boat. Feel free to sit and relax with a snack and drink while you enjoy the pretty views. If it’s chilly you will enjoy the opportunity to warm up!
Lunch: This is a walking lunch as there are very limited seating areas
2. Borough Market
This is one of London’s oldest and most vibrant food markets. It’s a must see for those who love to explore limitless food options. There is a reason why it’s so busy.
Afternoon: Explore some of the big sites with continuing the Big Bus Tour or Walking
3. Visit Big Ben, London Bridge, The House of Parliament & Millennium Bridge.
We chose to walk and explore all of these iconic landmarks, it was the most beautiful day. We didn’t go in any of them but rather chose to take it in from the outside. Two reasons for this, it is free and the best views are from the outside. When we felt like a lift we hopped on the Big Bus Tour from their pick up locations.
Evening: Dinner and time to relax
4. Italian Restaurants are always a good idea, even when you’re in the UK.
If you are staying in Kensington there is a lovely little Italian restaurant that we highly recommend going to that is right across from the hotel we stayed at. A relaxing and quiet dinner followed with a little walk around the block is a perfect way to end a day in London before you turn in for the evening.
More blogs to come on some of the other fun adventures of our week in London.
