“Teen-Friendly Escapes: Finding the Perfect Resort for Your Family Adventure”
Planning a family vacation when you have teenagers can add an extra level of research compared to when your children were all young. Two of the biggest challenges are the cost due to the big jump in the price once your kids are over 12 and having enough space for everyone to sleep comfortably! If you have a teen girl and boy there is a good chance they won’t want to share a bed anymore, so you need a room that has a sofa bed for sure and if you have 3 kids with two of them been teens you will need to find a hotel with connecting rooms at this point.
Don’t worry, we have a few great resorts to accommodate your family but to be honest if you want to keep your costs down you will want to transition to traveling during the low season from April – December. The prices will take a jump around mid December to the end of March. We understand though that there are challenges with this! The older the kids get the harder it is for them to miss school, work and activities. This leaves us with our biggest recommendation which is to book early, as in way before you think you need to think about it and make sure you purchase the Travel Protection so you can cancel it if needed or move it to a different date.
A few years ago we found this room to be absolutely perfect for our family of 5. The biggest perk was not only the abundance of bedding options, we also had two bathrooms. At the time we had two teens and our son was still under 12. Funny enough, the kids ended up pushing the two beds together in their room so they had one giant bed. It was pretty cute!
If you have a family of 4 with two teens you are still ok to stay in a Junior Suite with with two beds and a sofa bed however it is always best to have us request a cot just incase you don’t get the two beds. It doesn’t happen often but it can happen.
Some other things to consider for an All Inclusive resort with your teens would be to stay at a resort that has plenty of things to do such as games in the pools throughout the day or you might enjoy a stay at one, play at 3 resort. These can be great if they are connected to each other so you can wander throughout all of them. Outside of the resort you might want to consider booking a couple excursions that will excite your teens or have the resort call a taxi for you and plan a day trip of exploring on your own. The resorts are always very helpful with offering recommendations and we have many suggestions for you as well from our own experience.
So, to all of you adventurers who are planning a vacation with your teens, the most important thing to focus on are the moments that you with be soaking in together and the memories that you will create through the magic of travel. For in the end, it’s not just about the places we’ve been, but the memories we’ve created when we were enjoying experiences that are new to us. You will know when you have found the right resort for your family to stay at when you see it. Take time to ask us questions and let us know what you need for your family. Once you book it our goal is for you to feel like you can relax and focus on the next step which is packing your suitcase and making your way to the airport.
