“Resorts in Paradise: A Guide to Choosing your Cancun and area Destination”
Choosing a resort in Cancun or the Cancun area can be very challenging which is why we want to help make the decision for you a little easier based on what we found to be the most popular over the past two travel seasons.
Let’s get started with the Cancun area: The benefit of staying in the Cancun area is that you are close to the airport, Cancun and fairly central if you would like to take a day trip to Playa Del Carmen, Playa Mujeres or the Ultramar Ferry Terminal that will take you to the Islands surrounding Cancun which I covered in a separate blog. Our most popular resorts in this area have been the Riu’s and Dreams Resorts.
Playa Mujeres
This area has the most beautiful beaches and white sand. The resorts are all quite new in this area and not quite as lush with developed tree’s like you will see in the Riviera Maya resorts, expect a modern feel. A big attraction with staying out in Playa is golfing, swimming and the high end resorts. Our most popular have been the Riu’s, Planet Hollywood and again Dreams resorts.
Playa Del Carmen
Playa is known to be a happening town with endless things to see and do. It’s approximately 1 hour from the airport to most resorts and central to many attractions in the area, including the Ultramar Ferry Terminal if you are wanting to head out to Islands such as Cozumel. It’s known to have a little more seaweed (sargassum) throughout the year compared to other areas, however it hasn’t been a huge issue for our clients. This is nature at its finest! Our most popular resorts in Playa Del Carmen and area are the Riu’s, Ocean by H10 and the Wyndham.
Riviera Maya
When staying in the Riviera Maya you can expect to have the farthest drive from the airport but you will also see an endless amount of beauty and the most lush landscapes. Many of our clients enjoy this area for the quieter beaches, unique resorts and the opportunity to explore the Mayan & Tulum Ruins or many other attractions. Our most popular resorts in the Riviera Maya are the Grand Princess Resorts, Barcelo’s, Bahia Principe’s and Royalton’s.
In conclusion, there are several options to choose from. To make your decision easier we suggest making the decision around what you are wanting to experience the most on this vacation. As you can see each area has something a little different to offer from modern, crisp clean resorts and landscapes out in Playa Mujeres and Cancun to rocks, trees and more wildlife in the Playa Del Carmen and Maya Riviera areas. In the end, the resort that you end up choosing for your next vacation experience can easily be selected around exactly what you are wanting.
